College Life

When you’re in High School, class work is never the biggest problem. The biggest problem has always been image. You feel obligated to know what everyone thinks of you and how can you change their perspective. You would buy nice clothing, keep up with what’s going on "ON The Streets" and try to befriend everyone you come in contact with even if its just mutual friend. Your image is all you have. Peer pressure kills every one's rep. but no one can become a leader without following. Following to fit in to life because they don't understand where they fit. There are two types of followers, 1) The ones that follow to fit 2) the ones that follow to be cool. You might be thinking to yourself well is it not the same thing. The ones that follow to fit in literally follow another person acts IE if someone is going somewhere this person would find it necessary to tag along, if someone decides to do homework then the follower feels obligated to make it a study session. The ones that follow to be cool would inmate what they see someone else doing but not at the same saving it and using it for another day.
The set of people above those are the gossipers and complainers. The gossipers get their stats from spreading people business out. This one is risky because the gossipers not only tell you people business but also spreads your business around, but it’s only fair for your business to go around if you are willing to sit down listen to other people problems. Then you have complainers the complainers just about anything. Knowing their actions are just as bad or even worse then what they are complaining about, these two usually stick together because they feed off of each other negative energy.
Above those you have the people like me the connector/ communicator I am the one who basically allow these different levels of people to become friends, talking to everyone and becoming friends with them. The people like me never like to see a lonely person so they introduce everyone so they can be a group of friends. My stats is get the most heat because I made everyone friends so I have to hear them all complain to me about the other stats or group always leaving me in a awkward situations.
Above me are the freaks,. The freaks usually set their selves in bad situations because they cannot control their hormones. They get called stuff like easy, sluts or even get frowned upon but school officials. They tend to build relationships where ever they go, they would close the old relationship status but never cancel the acts or feelings.
Above those are the advisers the ones that help each rep. get through their tough times. They are usually nice and full of knowledge. The advisers are also put into tough situations because they try not to pick a side.
Above them are the party animals the ones that everyone knows for strictly getting drugs, alcohol or just to find out where the next party is at.
The ones that reach the top of the list are the beautifuls', the ones that are put up like trophy wives. When they ask you to do something you do it with regret or pausing.
Now when I came to college I was looking for some of these groups to disappear seeing how we are mature people now but I guess college is just another place for you to express all these groups on a higher level for the simple fact that you see these groups around you 24/7 while you was in high school these groups only lasted from 7 to 3pm.
24/7 and living every minute of it

Spirit Night???

Well today I was suppose to go to Blood Manor a house in Manhattan which was suppose to be scary, but still fun. I was kind of excited to go but it was postponed until Thursday on the count that there was not a lot of people going. I was not going to go at first because my "girl" on campus was suppose to perform at Spirit Night, but she convinced me to go without her, but now I was able to go.
My roommates, "Mama Dee" and I walked into the Gymnasium, well tried but we had to walk through metal detectors just to get in, then we had to swipe our cards to gain access to a gym that I have been to on many occasions. When we walked in to the Gym now we go to find seats and there was an intramural basketball game in progress. It was the The Jerseys playing the The Warriors, The Jersey team was winning. When we sat down now there was a lot of Man Law violation in progress. The sport went on for about 15 minutes and it was over. Then a lot of people started coming into the Gym from the side door. Then cheerleaders came in, but they were no one I knew so I figured they came from the Queens campus, then a lot of tall people walked in a they sat opposite from the bleachers where we were sitting. A announcer came on and starting announcing the member of the Queens Basketball team while the cheerleaders was standing in front of the bleachers cheering for the team. Which was cool only problem why were they cheering? So the game between the Red Storms began, I actually enjoyed watching the team play because they are actually pretty good but I am not sure how they would do against another team. Every time one of the members from the team score the cheerleaders would cheer. When the practice game was over. We waited for Caution dance team to perform, for the first time I have seen Her perform. She was actually good and the whole team was to.
All in all the dance team was really good, the basketball team is good I might actually buy a ticket to one of their games. I enjoyed the free food we got for attending and the free shirt. Because Anything Free Is Just For Me.

Comment to Henry Jenkins

Whatever their limitations in terms of bureaucratic structure, most university instructors have much greater flexibility to respond to these challenges than the average public high school. Unfortunately, by the time we get to college, these gaps in experiences, skills, and resources will have already had a near lethal impact on those kids who are being left behind. It isn't just that we will need to have a head start program to get them the technical skills they need to deploy these technologies. It is going to be much harder to give them the sense of empowerment and entitlement needed to allow them to feel fully part of the online world. They are going to be much less likely to play and experiment with the new technologies because they will be afraid of failing and looking dumb in front of classmates who will have been using these tools for more than a decade
stated by Henry Jenkins,

My Response: I Agree with Mr. Jenkins I went to a public school in Brooklyn and they did not allow us to view any sites of any fun, any browser with just word game in it would be blocked. We tried many proxy sites to get around the schools blocks. Every time we did get around it they would turn around a block our proxy sites. I tried to understand why the school was doing this because I was part of mouse squad so it would have to be us that block the sites for the school. I never really got it though I understand them blocking porn site but blocking all the other sites. I remember I had chosen to do a report on basketball, when I attempt to do the project in school because I pretty much procrastinated until the last minute and I try to do it before the class. When I typed in information on basketball they told tell me that site has been blocked. Although this was a school project they felt as though all I was only interested in the entertainment aspect. I actually failed because I procrastinated but I still blame the school as well because not everyone has access to a computer. We would either turn to school or the library and why should I have to pay when computers in the school are free with unlimited time. When I came to college I already had the knowledge of a computer because we have a desktop computer in my house I owned a laptop and so did my sister. Not everyone get this privilege having computers so yet again I feel if the schools are going to pay money to have these computers they might as well allow the kids to use them to the dullest by letting them get familiar to using the web, finding information on web, teach us certain applications and allowing us to use certain sites like Facebook and such because they keep us connected to other people which can help us learn how to network and stay connected to world that sometimes seem distant. I have witnessed some of my fellow freshman struggle with certain things on a computer such as typing how to use Microsoft word some of the most basic things that need to be known. It of course it is hard to teach them now because they are so worried about how everyone else around them is doing so they would be too embarrassed to ask for help or even acknowledge they have a problem. What can we do? We are the little people so we just tend to go with the flow rather than stating our voices

Technologic

In today society who are we to be without technology, in the 21st Century we have computers doing everything for us from waking us up in the morning to to just the most difficult task of keeping us alive. We as human relay on computers to do everything for us but as a college kid it is even more depended on. Instead of just walking about 5 minutes to the library to look for a book I would need, I would rather Google the book and hope they can gave me a brief summary on the book, missing out on a lot of details the book would of gave me. Instead of going to my professors i can just email them whats going on with me and hope and pray they receive the emails. The campus I go to school on a completely wireless campus so that mean I can walk around anywhere on the campus grounds and always have Internet. Each and everyone one of the class have a projector and the projector is hooked up to a computer that has a VCR/DVD player hooked up to it. So their is never an excuse for not being able to show your audience exactly what you are talking about, They even provide each student with a laptop so there is not an excuse of why the wok couldn't get done.
I absolutely love technology because I feel that this is what is going to help develop the world. Just being caught without a debit card is like a sin. I want to go into the major of Telecommunications and Networking so for me to write that i hate technology would be stupid because if I did then I wouldn't have a job or at least get job in the focus I am studying on. I believe if the technology business was to crash that we all would be out of jobs and lost because humans can not go back to stone ages where we will be using block stones and a chisel to write notes or other information. Some people are born knowing how to type on a computer better than they can write on a piece of paper with a pen or pencil.

The Heat is not here

It is 11:42 on a Tuesday night, I am sitting at the table doing my homework when I hear a sudden swoosh. I then started writing my paper again then I felt cold air past me. When I was younger my mother use to tell me if you feel a draft past by me that it might be Duppy passing by. Now as a kid I was scared of alot every little thing that moved at night even my brother. My brother Adrian and I never really had a close relationship so he used to sneak in my room at night and scare me. So as the draft past me by all of those bad memories passed me before my eyes. I suddenly jump out and started panking I turn to Ngadie and I ask if she can hear it she screams hear what!!! I say the the ghostly sounds she um hun, no thats the wind blowing the trees.I laugh at myself for being such a punk but. Who knows if it was the wind or an Actual ghost.

Fright Fest

On Saturday that just passed I went to six flags great adventure in New Jersey. I went to relax a little by going on some rides and supposedly get scared by monsters and zombies. After a bout a 2 hour drive from Staten Island we finally made it. I was with "Mama Dee", "275 pound punk man", "Shortie Do wop" and "Cracka". Now we are here we first go to Superman which is one of the roller coasters there. I am in front of the rest kind of like leading, we get on the long line and "Shortie Do wop" disappeared I call to see where she is at and she says she in front because she does not want to get on the ride, I hang up the phone with her a little aggravated because she paid good money to come to six flags and for her to not try to get most out of it is ridiculous. We are standing on this really long line and after like 10 minutes we hear that this ride is not in service anymore. Majority of people left the line, the big groups of hood rat girl sounding as though they are ready to fight and some other large groups but we decided to say. We must of waited a half hour to 45 minutes on that line before it began working again, the spot where was at said we would of had to wait about an hour and 15 minute waiting time so it was still about the same.
We then went to eat now the park is ridiculous packed with people. So we all get separate food me and the cracka are Nathans trying to get some food but the lines are coming out of the door, we kind of skipped some people because they did not want to move further into the lines. We got our food sat and ate it with the others. After about a 45 minute wait for our food and 15 minute time eating it we were ready to go again. We began to walk around looking for our next ride which was Medusa, I texted my friend who was there named "hush puppie" she was told me where she was and I was like I just left there so ill text you later. We are now in the Mexican village a specific town in Six Flags where the roller coaster named El Toro is at, the line for El Toro was so long that it wrapped around the ride itself. As soon as we made it to the Mexican village is began making fun of "Cracka" about his Spanish siblings, reading every sign that was in Spanish and rolling the R in El Toro it was hilarious. We then found Medusa but that line was just as long as El Torrrro (rolling the R as though I am saying it in Spanish). We began to just walk around forcing our way through the thick crowds.
Now the "275 lb" man is obviously the biggest out of all of us but he is scared of everything, and he was not acting he was literally running away from the zombies that weren't really all that scary I might add or maybe it is because I know it is just a person in a costume. So now we started going on all the kiddy rides but I had to use the bathroom so they went without me, I called my sister and told her where I was kind of bragging, then I used the bathroom a called "Hush Puppie" because I wanted to hang out with her but yet again she was nowhere to be found.
We then proceed to go on the Dark Knight the worse ride at six flags I had more fun on the kiddy coaster I went on with my niece back in the summer. We then went to Skull Mountain then went to get more food at "the 275 lb man" family restaurant. Then we proceed to the bus to go back home not really my best time at Six Flags but who am I to complain it was only $20 and I got away from St John's.
